Through the Threshold is an installation created during the COVID19 pandemic and is dedicated to my late maternal grandmother Idolina Quintanilla Olivarez. I can attribute many of the reasons why I'm an artist to her and she is one of my deepest inspirations. She taught me to pay attention to my dreams and to celebrate my imagination. Her teachings and stories about her life are what taught me how interconnected we all are to each other, to our own history.
Creation of this work was made possible in part by an award from the Luminaria Artist Foundation with funding provided by the Department of Arts & Culture of the City of San Antonio. The images represent it's installation at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens in October 2020.
